Three ways to install Fiberglass Cushioned Vinyl
Sheet
1. Loose lay
in seamless installations up to 25 sq yards
(225 sq feet)
2. Semi loose-lay
with double face tape or perimeter pressure
sensitive adhesive up to 25 sq yards
3. Full spread
using recommended pressure sensitive adhesive
Accessories for Full Spread:
Adhesive Glue:
Premium Pressure Sensitive #320
1 Gallon $31.95
Fiberglass Cushioned may be installed loose-lay, semi loose-lay
or full spread adhesive application. Loose-lay
installation is available for rooms that do
not exceed 25 sq yards (225 sqare feet) and
do not require seams. Full spread installations
are to be used if the floor receives heavy or
rolling traffic (such as microwave carts, portable
dishwashers or other appliances, or requires
more than 25 sq yards of Fiberglass Cushioned. The full
spread installation will increase Fiberglass Cushioned's
performance and is the preferred method for
the professional installer.
DO's and DON'Ts and
PRECAUTIONS
1. Always store or transport Fiberglass Cushioned on a core
if material is more than six feet in length.
If six feet or under, roll the short way.
2. Inspect your Fiberglass Cushioned thoroughly before starting
installation.
3. Make sure the sub floor is always clean,
firm and level.
4. Acclimate Fiberglass Cushioned to the installation environment
for at least 6 hours prior to installation.
Temperature of sub floor should be at least
65 degrees F.
5. Use the correct type of installation for
the location, size, and intended usage. See
installation instructions for more complete
details.
6. In loose lay or semi loose lay installations,
leave 1/8" space between walls and flooring
edges. For areas of extreme climatic change,
leave up to 1/4".
7. In a semi-loose lay application only use
perimeter double face tape or pressure sensitive
adhesive on two adjoining walls.
8. In a semi loose lay application place double
face tape in the form of an X under areas where
heavy appliances will be located.
9. Use only the recommended seam sealers and
adhesives listed at top of sheet.
10. Run seams parallel to, not accross, major
traffic areas whenever possible.
11. Protect all seamed areas for at least 8
hours.
12. Use permanent flexible silicone caulk next
to bathtubs, showers, sliding doors and in similar
areas to prevent moisture from getting under
the vinyl.
13. In full spread applications, always roll
the vinyl in four directions with a roller not
to exceed 100 pounds.
DON'T
1. Do not install Fiberglass Cushioned over a wet substrate,
as it will trap moisture.
2. Do not use the loose lay installation method
for floors of over 25 sq yeards (225 sq feet)
or when seams are necessary.
3. Do not use the loose lay method if the floor
receives heavy or rolling traffic (such as microwave
carts or portable dishwashers).
4. In loose lay applications, never permanently
attach the flooring at any point (such as heat
registers).
5. In loose lay and semi loose lay installations,
do not let the Fiberglass Cushioned touch the wall or corners
at any point or bubbles may occur.
6. Never overlap double face tape.
7. Never locate a seam perpendicular to a doorway
or entrance.
8. Never slide heavy objects or appliances across
the face of the vinyl. Use professional moving
guides or lift and carry the objects.
9. Never use standard multi purpose vinyl adhesives
to install Fiberglass Cushioned. If the adhesive is too
wet it will never dry and bubbles may occur.
10. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Use only Fiberglass Cushioned
recommended cleaners or mild detergents.
11. Never wax Fiberglass Cushioned. It is not necessary.
Waxes and slovents may leave a film that will
dull the surface.
PRECAUTIONS
Flooring should be rolled face out until ready
to install and acclimated to the room conditions
Acrylic Double-Face Tape must be used at seams
and doorways and other areas with heavy moveable
appliances. Do not use tape around perimeter
of room
Cut floor 3/16" away from all vertical
surfaces.
Plan layout for minium number of seams.
Accurately measure the length and width of room.
Include recessed areas and doorways.
Allow an extra 1 to 1.5 inches of flooring on
each end for trimming.
If more than one piece of flooring is needed,
allow for correct pattern match at seam.
Use Acrylic Double-Face Tape in areas where
the flooring meets tubs, shower stalls or toilets.
Seal with silicone caulk.
Do not overlap installation tape.
Tape should be placed in the form of
large "Xs" (without overlapping)
underneath moveable appliances.
Do not install on stairs.
NOTE: Use caution moving heavy
appliances!

Detailed Fiberglass Cushioned Installation instructions
If you are a professional installer or a do-it-yourselfer,
you can install Fiberglass Cushioned. Conventional old-fashioned
vinyl flooring can break or permanently crease,
and is very difficult to work with. Fiberglass Cushioned
is very easy to work with because of its unique
structural composition. At its core, Fiberglass Cushioned
has a highly resilient fiberglass base, encapsulated
with a tough layer of PVC on both sides. Thanks
to this revolutionary new construction, your
floor has unmatched dimensional stability, eliminating
conventional problems of contraction, expansion,
curling and cracking, resulting in quicker,
easier money-saving installation and higher
durability. In addition, Fiberglass Cushioned, because of
its unique construction, is extremely resistant
to moisture, unlike tradional paper-backed vinyl.
After all, one use of PVC is water pipes!

INSTALLATION DETAILS MATTER
CHECK OFF LIST
Fiberglass Cushioned may be installed over a variety of
substrates, even over two layers of existing
fully secured non cusion-back vinyl if the surface
is firm, smooth and level. Ceramic tile, terrazzo,
marble, existing resilient or tile floors, approved
wood, OSB, particleboard, plywood, suspended
wood and prepared (smooth) concrete are suitable
substrates. It may be installed on grade, above
or below grade, depending on local conditions.

THE
KITCHEN ISLAND
When installing Fiberglass Cushioned around an island counter
in the kitchen, it is recommended that the seam
be placed on the side away from pivotal traffic,
regardless of the seam length required.
INSTALLATION OF TRIMS, MOLDINGS AND DOORWAY
TERMINATIONS
1. Door metals should be fitted with the front
edge over the Fiberglass Cushioned and nailed to the floor,
not through the Fiberglass Cushioned.
2. Replace the quarter round by nailing it into
the wall and not into the floor. Place no pressure
on the new Fiberglass Cushioned.
3. If the quarter round is not used or was not
removed cap the exposed expansion gap with permanent
flexible silicone caulk.
4. Other types of moldings may sometimes be
necessary, depending on the type of flooring
adjoining the Fiberglass Cushioned, and the height differences
between the 2 floors. A variety of metal, plastic,
rubber and wood transitions and moldings are
available from profesional retailers, who will
help you pick the correct one for your application.
However, one rule always applies. The transitions
or moldings should be secured to the sub floor,
not the Fiberglass Cushioned.

Care immediately after installation
1. After a full spread installation, heavy traffic
should be avoided for at least 24 hours to allow
the adhesive to set hard. Use professional guides,
or a section of carpet turned face down to move
furniture, appliances, or other heavy objects.
2. If the installation is a semi loose-lay or
loose-lay type, appliances and heavy objects
are to be lifted, not rolled, slid or pushed
over the new Fiberglass Cushioned.
3. Protect all the seamed areas for the first
8 hours.
4. Keep the room at a temperature of 68 degrees
F for at least 2 days.
5. Before use, to remove any residual surface
film, clean the new Fiberglass Cushioned by adding a few
